Walibi Belgium continues its large-scale transformation and will introduce Dock World in 2025, a brand-new maritime-themed area. To mark the 50th anniversary of the theme park, visitors can look forward to an immersive harbor world featuring Mecalodon, the largest family roller coaster in the Benelux. In addition to this highlight attraction, several classic rides will receive a complete retheming, while new dining options and an impressive 15-meter-high lighthouse will enhance the experience.

Mecalodon: The New Waterside Coaster

The largest family coaster in the Benelux will make its debut under the name Mecalodon. With a track length of 925 meters, the ride combines three powerful launches with 14 airtime moments, delivering the sensation of weightlessness. The ride vehicles are designed to resemble mechanical sharks, seamlessly integrating the experience into Dock World's harbor setting. With a minimum height requirement of only 1 meter, the ride is accessible to younger guests, making it an exciting yet family-friendly experience.

Mecalodon is designed to appear as though it is emerging from the depths of Dock World’s waters, offering an intense but family-friendly thrill. The track layout is inspired by the idea of a massive sea predator leaping from the water and weaving through industrial harbor structures.

Dock World: Breathing New Life into Classic Attractions

Dock World will not only introduce a brand-new roller coaster but will also breathe new life into existing attractions. The indoor launch coaster Psyké Underground will revert to its original name, Turbine, and will receive a redesign to match the industrial maritime aesthetic of the new area. The Flash Back water coaster will also be rethemed to seamlessly blend into the harbor setting.

The transformation extends to family-friendly rides as well. The former Dragon Boat attraction will be rebranded as Stormy, replacing the dragon boats with sailing boats to align with the nautical theme. Meanwhile, the family ride Salsa y Fiesta will be renamed Tous en boîte, incorporating a fresh concept that ties into Dock World’s immersive experience.

The Cannery Factory: The Heart of the Harbor Experience

Dock World aims to create a fully immersive harbor universe, with a central marketplace serving as a focal point. The Cannery Factory will be the main exit point for visitors coming off Mecalodon, Flash Back, and Turbine, leading them into a covered space styled after a historic fish cannery. This marketplace will offer a range of themed souvenirs and merchandise, allowing guests to further immerse themselves in the maritime atmosphere.

New Dining Experiences in Dock World

The expansion will also introduce two new dining options, offering guests a taste of the harbor experience. The Hungry Sharky restaurant will serve a diverse menu featuring fresh, maritime-inspired dishes. Meanwhile, the Light House Café will provide a cozy setting where visitors can relax and take in the ambiance of Dock World.

A Towering Landmark: The Port du Wavre Lighthouse

A striking 15-meter-high lighthouse, known as Port du Wavre, will become the signature landmark of Dock World. Inspired by historic harbor towns in Normandy, this lighthouse will not only serve as a visual centerpiece but will also reinforce the overall maritime theme, making it a key point of reference for guests navigating the new area.

Investment and Grand Opening in 2025

The development of Dock World is part of a €35 million investment, continuing Walibi Belgium’s transformation, which began in 2016. The new themed area is set to officially open in 2025, offering a fully immersive experience for visitors of all ages.

By combining a record-breaking family coaster, the retheming of iconic attractions, and a cohesive maritime setting, Walibi Belgium is celebrating its 50th anniversary in spectacular fashion. Dock World will not only mark a new chapter in the park’s history but also establish itself as a must-visit destination for families and thrill-seekers alike in the Benelux region.
