Europapark's spectacular horror event, Traumatica – Festival of Fear, returns until November 11, 2023. As visitors embark on a chilling journey through dark attractions and eerie themed areas, there's one figure who has made a notable mark over the years: Luca de Michele.
Luxembourg's Secret Horror Icon
Unknown to many: Luca de Michele, the Luxembourger with an outstanding career as a makeup artist, renowned for shining at weddings and major fashion events, dives into the world of horrors by night. But how did this remarkable transformation come about?
Beginnings in the Depths of "Horror Nights"
It wasn't always
Traumatica. Years ago, when the event was still named "Horror Nights," Luca's haunting journey began.
"I was a peculiar creature in the 'Cave' attraction," the makeup artist recalls. Despite initial challenges adapting to his monstrous role, he cites this period as one of the most formative in his career.
From Shadow Being to the Spotlight
With the event's redesign and renaming came a shift for Luca. His role as a mysterious Shadow not only earned him recognition but also a growing fan base.
"Suddenly, I had admirers. People created fan accounts for my character," he admits. But like all artists, he too sought new challenges and horizons.
The Evolution to Sasha Schneider
Under the creative leadership of Bill McCoy, the event's Creative Director, Sasha Schneider's captivating character, with dual gender traits, emerged. This role brought new dimensions for Luca.
"It was a significant challenge. I had to speak, which was entirely new to me," he confesses. His multilingualism—fluent in Luxembourgish, German, French, English, and Italian—affords him a special connection with visitors.
Continuous Growth and a Heart for Traumatica
His talent and dedication did not go unnoticed. At
Traumatica, he collaborates closely with a team of professional makeup artists, seizing the opportunity for continuous learning and growth.
But which of his roles does he hold closest to his heart?
"The Shadow, of course! And I haven't had to say goodbye to that character yet: My figure is displayed in the 'Wax Museum' attraction, part of the new 'Traumatic Tales' exhibition." A Glimpse into the Future
What the future holds for Luca at Traumatica remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: His enthusiasm and dedication to the event remain undiminished.
For those eager to embark on a spine-tingling journey and meet the charismatic Luca de Michele, aka Sasha Schneider, the
Traumatica – Festival of Fear is a must-attend. Additionally, VEEJOY offers a deeper dive into the world of
