In Toverland the theme world of Ithaka is undergoing a remarkable transformation. The iconic Trojan Horse, a central element of this world and intimately linked with the popular wooden roller coaster Troy, is being completely rebuilt for the first time since its introduction in 2007. This extensive renovation marks a historic moment for the park, heralding a new era for one of its most beloved attractions.
A New Chapter for an Iconic Structure
Since its debut in Toverland’s Greek-themed world, the Trojan Horse has been more than just a structure; it has been a symbol of adventure and excitement. The decision to completely reconstruct this iconic figure stems from a commitment to maintaining and enhancing the visitor experience. Unlike previous maintenance efforts, this comprehensive rebuild involves entirely new wood, various colors, and additional intricate details, transforming it into a modern masterpiece while preserving its legendary essence.
Innovative Design and Enhanced Features
The renewal process includes a double staining of the wood, enhancing its resistance to weather elements and giving the horse a more authentic appearance. Visitors can anticipate newly designed decorations in diverse colors, adding a vibrant touch to the structure. Furthermore, elements from the nearby wooden roller coaster Troy, including steel rails, will be integrated into the horse's manes, seamlessly blending the two attractions and enriching the overall aesthetic.
A Testament to Detail and Durability
The Trojan Horse, measuring 8 meters in height, 2.5 meters in width, and approximately 10 meters from head to tail, is a testament to detailed craftsmanship. The use of approximately 230 m2 of larch wood and 6,000 screws, with each plank uniquely shaped to maintain the horse's form, exemplifies the meticulous attention to detail. The double staining of the larch wood beautifies the structure and significantly extends its lifespan, ensuring its majesty for at least another 25 years.
Collaborative effort and sustainability
The renovation is a collaborative effort, carried out entirely by Toverland's dedicated staff, with various departments coming together to co-create this renewed icon. This team-driven approach underscores Toverland's commitment to innovation and sustainability, ensuring that the new Trojan Horse will captivate visitors for decades to come.
Beyond the Horse: A Comprehensive Renovation
The renovation, which commenced immediately after the last opening day of Winter Feelings, is not confined to the Trojan Horse alone. The robust battle towers at the entrance of the Wunderwald's outdoor area are also receiving a thorough makeover, including the complete restoration of their battlements. This comprehensive project is expected to conclude by the end of March, promising to rejuvenate the entrance to the Ithaka theme world with fresh and invigorating energy.
