On May 24, 2025, Freizeitpark Toverland will launch the Troy Coaster Challenge. At least 24 daring participants will ride the wooden coaster Troy for 24 hours to raise funds for the „Stichting Jade“ foundation. Where? In Sevenum, Noord-Limburg. When? Troy Coaster Challenge: 24 Hours for „Stichting Jade“
In 2025, Freizeitpark Toverland will celebrate its 24th anniversary. Each month, the 24th day will feature a special event, culminating in the Troy Coaster Challenge on May 24 and 25. From Saturday, May 24, at 12:00 PM, until Sunday, May 25, at 12:00 PM, at least 24 participants will ride the Troy coaster nonstop. The goal is to collect as much money as possible for „Stichting Jade“. Those interested can register by March 24, 2025, at
toverland.com/en/coasterchallenge. Only individuals aged 18 and over can join. A test evening on April 24, 2025, will see an initial group of candidates ride for two hours to prove their endurance.
Fundraising Efforts for Villa Jade Families
Toverland will host various activities to support the foundation. Visitors can purchase seats next to the candidates for 55-minute rides outside regular hours. Unique items, such as parts of the wooden coaster, will also be auctioned off. Bart Jaspers, Manager of Marketing & Communications, states: „With the support of Jade and her foundation, we want to bring a bit of magic into the lives of these families, as they truly need it.“ The Troy Coaster Challenge aims to raise enough funds to cover the annual costs for all Villa Jade guests.
„Stichting Jade“: Hope Through Respite
Jade Kops and her family founded „Stichting Jade“ after she was diagnosed with cancer at 14. Despite intensive treatments and the devastating news of her incurable condition, she continues to spread positivity. The foundation’s Villa Jade offers families with children undergoing cancer treatment a seaside retreat to escape reality and create cherished memories. René Kops, Jade’s father and foundation chairman, says: „It feels good to help other families. This event allows us to make that happen and look toward the future.“
Spotlight on the Troy Wooden Coaster
Since its opening in 2007, Troy, built by Great Coasters International, has been a standout at Toverland. Standing 35 meters tall, reaching speeds of 90 km/h, and stretching 1,077 meters, it’s the tallest, fastest, and longest wooden coaster in the Benelux region. A single ride lasts about 2 minutes and 15 seconds, with G-forces up to 2.4. On April 24, 2025, the test evening will determine if candidates can endure the full 24-hour challenge, after which the final participants will be announced.
Past Successes of the Challenge
The Troy Coaster Challenge has a strong track record. In 2010, 9 out of 13 participants completed 353 laps, covering about 380 kilometers, and raised 5,645 euros for „Stichting Doe een Wens“. In 2016, 10 of 13 candidates finished 325 laps, roughly 350 kilometers, collecting 11,035 euros for „Stichting Heppie“. In 2022, 11 of 12 participants managed 358 laps, around 386 kilometers, generating 32,658 euros for „Stichting Durf Te Vragen“.
