An accident occurred during Toverland's summer show, Aqua Bellatores, sending three actors to the hospital due to an unauthorized stage. The required permit was issued only after the incident.
Accident During the Show
On May 8, during the open-air performance of the summer show Aqua Bellatores at Toverland amusement park, a serious accident occurred. Three actors were injured and had to be taken to the hospital after being swept off the stage by a sudden wave. At that time, the stage had been built without the necessary construction permit.
Delayed Permit
Toverland had applied for a construction permit in December of the previous year, but it was not issued until May 23. Despite the pending approval, the park began constructing the stage in March, and the show had been running since March 23. A spokesperson for the municipality of Horst aan de Maas explained that the delay was due to workload and staff shortages.
Previous Construction Incidents
This is not the first time Toverland has started construction without a permit. At the end of last year, a large Alpine hut was erected in the Port Laguna entrance area without initial approval. However, the park does not expect any consequences this time either, as a permit was anticipated.
Safety Measures After the Accident
Since the accident on May 8, Aqua Bellatores has not been performed. To ensure the safety of the performers, the stage has been modified with a black railing that the actors can hold on to in case of another wave. The park's spokesperson emphasized that the incident was caused by a technical defect and that the show is expected to resume soon, although no specific date has been set.
