Strategic Expansion of PortAventura World’s Hotel Offerings
With the integration of the Hotel and Aparthotel Marinada into Ponient Hotels, PortAventura World continues its expansion. The complex is situated less than 2.5 km from the popular theme park, making it an ideal location for tourists looking to enjoy both the resort and the beaches of Salou. The new offer mainly targets families, couples, and groups of friends who seek a combination of beach vacations and entertainment.
Ponient Hotels already include well-known accommodations such as Ponient Vila Centric in Vila-seca, as well as Ponient Pirámide and Ponient Dorada Palace, both located in Salou. With Marinada, PortAventura World enhances its portfolio to over 3,000 rooms, nearly 1,000 of which belong to the Ponient Hotels group.
Comfortable Accommodation with Extensive Amenities
The Marinada complex is divided into two areas: Hotel Ponient Marinada and Aparthotel Marinada. The hotel features 222 rooms equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay, including two outdoor pools, restaurants, bars, a kids' club, and valet parking. Guests of the aparthotel can also enjoy the hotel’s amenities. The 81 studios in the Aparthotel Marinada provide an alternative for visitors who prefer more independence while still benefiting from the perks of a hotel stay.
All rooms and studios have recently been renovated to offer a modern and comfortable atmosphere. The Marinada complex is especially appealing to families, not only due to its proximity to the theme park, but also thanks to the numerous activities and services designed specifically for children.
Strengthening Costa Dorada as a Tourist Destination
PortAventura World’s strategy with the expansion of Ponient Hotels is clear: reduce the seasonal nature of tourism and attract a wider range of visitors. According to Fernando Aldecoa, Chief Operating and Financial Officer of PortAventura World, the goal is to add value to the region by providing guests with a comprehensive beach and entertainment experience.
A notable highlight of the new complex is the planned addition of a water playground, designed primarily for families. The complex is scheduled to open to the public for the 2025 season, with further adjustments to be made to the communal areas before then.
Positive Reception of the New Hotel Business Model
Ponient Hotels have already achieved significant success this season. Over 90,000 overnight stays were recorded at Ponient Hotels’ properties, highlighting the positive reception of the offering among both international and domestic customers. Special offers such as 1-, 2-, or 3-day tickets for the theme parks, free transfers, and discounts on PortAventura World products make the combination of hotel stay and entertainment particularly attractive.
Additionally, entertainment featuring the resort’s characters makes the Marinada complex especially popular with families. The concept is designed to encourage longer stays compared to those typically seen at the resort’s six themed hotels. By focusing on a beach holiday experience alongside the attractions of PortAventura World, the new offering strikes a chord with a growing audience.
