On International Environment Day, Movie Park Germany highlights its new measures to promote sustainability. Targeted changes in various park areas aim to reduce the ecological footprint.
Sustainability Awareness at Movie Park Germany
Movie Park Germany is increasingly focusing on sustainability and more efficient use of resources. The primary goal is to achieve a more climate-neutral operation, supported by raising awareness among staff and employing new technologies.
Eco-Friendly Food and Beverage Services
In food and beverage services, there is a shift towards less plastic and more regional products. Deposit cups replace disposable ones, and wooden coffee stirrers, fry skewers, and cutlery take the place of plastic. Open straws are avoided, and recyclable napkins with eco-labels are standard. Electric vehicles are used for the transport of beverages and other items, contributing to lower CO2 emissions. A partnership with Too Good To Go helps prevent food waste.
Water and Green Space Management
Water usage within the park is minimized, with natural well water free of additives like chlorine being used. This applies to both green spaces and water attractions such as "Excalibur – Secrets of the Dark Forest." Winter-hardy plants are found throughout the park, while others overwinter in special halls.
Efficient use of Attractions
Attractions are only started with a certain number of guests, and later opening times for attractions at the back of the park help save energy.
Digital marketing and reduced printed materials
The printing of brochures has been significantly reduced and replaced with digital versions. Postal mailings have been cut by 50%, with a shift towards email and digital booking processes. Marketing media are digitized, and physical meetings with business partners are minimized.
Electromobility for Guests and Staff
Guests have access to 12 electric charging points with a 22 kW capacity, enabling an average electric car with a 40 kWh battery to be fully charged in about 2.5 hours. Six additional charging points are provided for employees.
Energy-Saving Lighting
Motion detectors have been installed in many buildings, and new LED lighting in Van Helsing’s Club and the Warsteiner Saloon saves over 94% energy compared to the previous infrastructure.
