Movie Park Germany in Bottrop is launching a special event that reaches out beyond just park visitors. In collaboration with the West German Donor Center (WSZE), the park is organizing a stem cell typing event on August 3, open to both visitors and non-visitors alike.
Stem Cell Typing Event at Movie Park's Event Center
On Saturday, August 3, the Event Center at the entrance of Movie Park will host a crucial and life-saving initiative. From 12 PM to 6 PM, park guests can participate in stem cell typing, registering as potential donors in the WSZE database. This quick and easy process involves providing a saliva sample, which is anonymized and entered into the database, potentially offering hope to leukemia patients worldwide.
Participation for Non-Visitors
Notably, the event is not limited to park visitors. Non-visitors also have the opportunity to participate from 5 PM to 6 PM. To join the event, non-visitors must first check in at the park’s information desk to gain access to the park and the event.
The Serious Background: Leukemia and Stem Cell Donations
The serious nature of this event is underscored by alarming statistics: every 27 seconds, someone in the world is diagnosed with leukemia. In Germany alone, around 3,000 stem cell donations are conducted annually, but the demand remains high. The collaboration between Movie Park and WSZE sends a strong message of solidarity and commitment to this critical cause.
Quick and Simple Typing Process On-Site
The simple and fast typing process, which takes only a few minutes, is a vital step in the fight against leukemia. By providing a basic cheek swab, potential donors can make a significant contribution, with their information being anonymously added to the global donor database. This ensures that, when needed, a matching donor can be found quickly.
