Movie Park Germany experienced a record-breaking year in 2024, captivating both long-time fans and new visitors. With a remarkable increase in attendance and an array of new attractions, Germany's largest film and theme park set new standards. The Halloween Horror Festival stood out as the highlight of the season, marking the most successful event in the park’s history.
Record Numbers for the Halloween Season 2024
The Halloween Horror Festival 2024 was the pinnacle of an already strong season. The park recorded a 9% increase in attendance compared to the previous year, surpassing the results of the previous record year in 2022. Featuring eight haunted houses, four scare zones, and more than 280 monster performers, the festival reached an unprecedented scale.
A standout feature was the new horror attraction “A Quiet Place,” inspired by the successful Paramount Pictures film franchise. This highly anticipated addition fulfilled a long-standing visitor request and was the first new IP-based horror attraction since 2018. The event’s offerings were further enriched by a collaboration with illusionist Christian Farla, who mesmerized audiences with his show, “Unhallowed – The Freak Show Straight out of Hell.”
Despite hosting one fewer event day compared to the previous year, the park saw an average daily attendance increase of 14%. This highlights the growing popularity of the Halloween event, which continues to attract visitors from across the region and beyond.
Year-Round Highlights at Movie Park Germany
The regular season, running from March to November, also delivered positive results, with a slight increase in attendance compared to the previous year. The 2024 season featured various new attractions and experiences that appealed to a wide audience.
A culinary highlight was the opening of the “Trattoria Hollywood,” offering guests a unique American-Italian dining experience. The “Tom & Jerry 4D Experience” provided family-friendly entertainment in the Roxy 4-D Cinema, while Christian Farla captivated audiences with his “Sherlock Holmes – A Game of Mystery” magic show series in Studio 7.
The park’s cinematic atmosphere was further enhanced by its role as a filming location for the German feature film “Der Buchspazierer.” Several scenes were shot within the park’s attractions and settings, reinforcing Movie Park Germany’s unique connection to the film industry.
Regional and International Appeal
Movie Park Germany attracted numerous visitors from across Germany and beyond in 2024. Many opted to extend their stay, visiting the park over two consecutive days and booking accommodations at one of the over 50 partner hotels in the area. The park’s in-house travel operator, Movie Park Holidays, also reported a successful year, reflecting the park’s growing appeal as a tourism destination.
Winter Wonderland: “Movie Park’s Hollywood Christmas”
The 2024 season does not end with Halloween. Beginning on November 29, the park will transform into a winter movie set. The event, “Movie Park’s Hollywood Christmas,” enters its second year and promises another festive experience for families.
More than 800,000 lights will illuminate the park, creating a magical holiday atmosphere.
