On April 20, 2024, Sweden's Liseberg amusement park opened its gates for the 101st time, heralding the new summer season. Guests were greeted with a day filled with dance, balloons, and an ambitious world record attempt at the Bunny Disco.
Festive Opening at the South Entrance
The park's traditional southern entrance turned into a grand opening party where the Liseberg bunnies welcomed the arrivals. Children had the opportunity to receive colorful bunny ears for free, while 4,000 balloons adorned the sky, setting a cheerful tone for the day.
Warm welcome and ceremonial admission of guests
At precisely 12:00 PM, the gates were opened, and the first 2,000 visitors flooded into the park. A long pink carpet, flanked by arches of balloons and a flood of soap bubbles, led guests into the heart of the park, where they were greeted by staff with applause and hugs.
Comments from Andreas Andersen, Managing Director of Liseberg
Andreas Andersen, the enthusiastic Managing Director of Liseberg, highlighted the special nature of the day: "Opening the park and welcoming the cheerful guests is a highlight every year. However, this year is even more special due to reaching the 101st anniversary."
World Record Attempt: The Largest Bunny Disco
A special highlight of the opening day was the attempt to set a new world record: the largest bunny disco. On the bunny stage, about 1,000 children and adults danced together, trying to break the record for the largest joint dance event. Lotta Carlsbogård, head of the Season and Events Department, expressed optimism: "We wanted to create something special, and it feels like we actually achieved a world record!"
Duration of the Summer Season
The summer season at Liseberg will last until September 22, 2024, with the park offering various attractions and events to make the coming months memorable.
