LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort is committed not only to creating unforgettable experiences in the theme park but also to bringing joy to those who cannot visit. On the occasion of International Childhood Cancer Day, which raises awareness worldwide about the needs of children with cancer and their families, the LEGOLAND team visited the children's hospital in Ulm. Accompanied by popular mascots, the team delighted young patients with smiles and unforgettable moments. In addition, they presented gifts, sending a strong message of support for children battling serious illnesses and their families.
A Special Visit with Heart
The atmosphere in the communal area of the Ulm Children's Hospital changed instantly as the door opened: the life-sized LEGOLAND Boy entered the room, followed closely by Peppa Pig. Enthusiastic children rushed towards the beloved characters, eager to embrace them. For young patients whose daily routines are dominated by medical examinations and treatments, this visit provided a much-needed break.
On the day ward, Peppa Pig brought smiles with cuddles and cheerful waves. While the younger children were especially thrilled by Peppa's presence, the older ones focused their attention on the LEGOLAND Boy. "It is so wonderful to see my son this happy," said the mother of Tom*, a young patient. "Moments like these bring hope and will remain in our memories for a long time."
Gifts and Special Encounters
Alongside these heartwarming moments, the LEGOLAND mascots also brought special surprises. Each child received small LEGO gifts, while the hospital ward was provided with additional playsets. To ensure that children in quarantine could also participate, the mascots visited them directly at their room windows. With the support of the dedicated team at Ulm Children's Hospital, the day became an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
LEGOLAND Deutschland: Year-Round Commitment to Families
LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort does not limit its engagement to International Childhood Cancer Day. Through its in-house charity, Merlin’s Magic Wand, the resort provides continuous support to affected families, social institutions, and organizations throughout the year. Last year alone, around 6,700 children and their families were able to enjoy an unforgettable day at the theme park, offering them a well-deserved break from everyday challenges.
Additionally, LEGOLAND is dedicated to making leisure activities more accessible. At the end of 2024, the entire resort—including LEGOLAND Park, the holiday village, the campsite, and the newly opened PEPPA PIG Park—was awarded the official "Reisen für Alle" (Travel for All) certification. This recognition underscores the resort’s commitment to inclusion and accessibility, ensuring that LEGOLAND Deutschland remains a place where every child can have carefree fun.
Season Opening 2025: Even More Family Adventures
The new season at LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort kicks off on April 5, 2025. For the first time, the adjacent PEPPA PIG Park will also be open, offering even more interactive experiences tailored for the youngest visitors. With this expansion and its ongoing social commitment, LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort continues to be a destination where adventure, joy, and support go hand in hand.
The names of the children have been changed to protect their privacy.
