Holiday Park in Germany is actively engaging in environmental conservation. With the construction of a new wild bee hotel and the establishment of a large flowering area in Majaland, the park aims to highlight the importance of bee conservation and biodiversity. Information boards at the site offer both children and adults practical tips on how they can contribute to protecting bees at home.
Location of the Bee Hotel: Honeycomb Design in Majaland
The bee hotel, located near the popular “Flip, the Grasshopper” attraction, stands out with its unique honeycomb design. It was developed by “Bee Friendly,” a regional start-up founded by Sascha Sychov, Dominik Hümmer, and Michael Watson. Their goal is to provide wild bees and insects with a safe habitat and raise awareness about the alarming issue of insect decline.
“We humans are constantly taking up more space, which destroys the natural habitat of many insect species. Our projects aim to create artificial refuges for wild bees,” explains co-founder Michael Watson. In addition, workshops are offered at the site to educate visitors about the importance of protecting bee habitats.
Maya the Bee as a Symbol of Conservation
Bernd Beitz, director of Plopsa Group Germany, is a strong supporter of the project. He emphasizes how closely the character of Maya the Bee is linked to the topic of conservation. “Maya the Bee has been an important ambassador for bee conservation and the significance of these creatures for our ecosystem for generations,” says Beitz.
Observing the Wild Bees Until the End of October
Park visitors have the opportunity to watch the first wild bees move into their new hotel. The bees’ flight season lasts until October, making this a fascinating natural experience that families can enjoy during their visit to the park.
Job Opportunities for the Halloween Season
In addition to the activities surrounding the bee hotel, Holiday Park is looking for additional staff for the last months of the season. Positions in gastronomy and ride operations are still open. Numerous jobs are also available for the Halloween events in October and November, which attract thousands of visitors each year.
