Familypark recently celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new theme restaurant, Filippo’s. Scheduled to open in July 2025, the restaurant promises to set new standards in design and functionality. The ceremony offered guests, including the vice mayors of St. Margarethen and Rust, Christian Schriefl and Georg Seiler, as well as Manfred Widder, chairman of the Rust Wine Association, a glimpse into the progress of the construction. Following the traditional topping-out speech and the handing over of the topping-out payment, attendees were invited to tour the site. The evening concluded with a relaxed themed buffet.

Demolition and Reconstruction: A Modern Dining Concept Takes Shape

In September 2024, demolition work began on the old Filippo restaurant, located at the heart of Familypark. Just weeks after Halloween, the first walls of the new building were erected. Once completed, Filippo’s will feature an indoor dining area for up to 260 guests and an outdoor terrace that can accommodate an additional 200 diners. Beyond the restaurant spaces, the project includes staff break rooms and office facilities on the upper floor to meet operational needs.

Efficient Project Management: Staying on Schedule

The ambitious construction timeline of less than one year is being achieved through precise and efficient project management. Utilizing lean management principles, all work has proceeded according to plan so far. Extensive preparatory work and meticulous coordination have played a vital role in this success. Lisa Wagner-Körmendi, spokesperson for Familypark GmbH, expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating: “Thanks to comprehensive planning and excellent collaboration with all project partners, we are confident in adhering to the tight schedule and look forward to opening in summer 2025.”

Construction Progress: Scale and Material Use Impress

The new restaurant is not only notable for its design and functionality but also for the impressive quantities of materials used during construction. Within the first three months, 1,000 cubic meters of concrete and 87,000 kilograms of reinforcement steel were processed. Additionally, 2,300 square meters of precast walls and 3,500 square meters of precast ceiling elements were installed. These figures highlight both the scale of the project and the efficiency of the construction work.

Regional Economic Boost: Prioritizing Local Companies

With total costs amounting to €8.2 million, the project represents not only an investment in Familypark’s future but also a commitment to the local economy. A key focus of the construction was engaging local companies for the execution of the work. This approach strengthens regional businesses and underscores Familypark’s dedication to sustainability and local value creation.
