Will Euro-Mir Be Demolished? Europa-Park Clarifies Future Plans

A report by the Badischen Zeitung on March 13, 2025, stirred excitement among Europa-Park fans: the popular Euro-Mir roller coaster is allegedly set to be demolished, with the Russian-themed area slated for a revamp. However, park director Roland Mack has clarified that no changes are planned for the attraction, which opened in 1997, in the medium term.

No Demolition of Euro-Mir Anytime Soon

Roland Mack addresses the rumors directly in a recent statement: “In the medium term, no changes are planned for the hugely popular Euro-Mir roller coaster.” Contrary to the Badischen Zeitung’s report from March 13, 2025, which suggested an imminent demolition, the ride remains intact for now. Mack emphasizes its “tremendous popularity” as a key reason for this decision. Opened in 1997, the coaster continues to thrill visitors in the Russian-themed area.

Contradiction with Initial Reporting

The Badischen Zeitung quoted Mack saying, “We must keep moving forward, as standing still means falling behind.” This sparked speculation about a swift demolition and a major overhaul of the Russian-themed area. Europa-Park’s official response counters this narrative. The discrepancy suggests the initial report may have been misinterpreted or jumped to conclusions.

Long-Term Vision for Technological Advances

Mack doesn’t entirely rule out future changes. He notes: “However, there are rapid technological advances in roller coaster and track construction. To keep pace with these developments and continually offer our visitors something new, we are considering introducing a new attraction in a few years, leveraging the innovative expertise of our manufacturing company, MACK Rides.” No specific timeline is provided, though. This new ride would be developed in collaboration with MACK Rides, Europa-Park’s in-house manufacturer, underscoring their commitment to cutting-edge technology.

Balancing Visitor Appeal and Innovation

The Euro-Mir’s popularity plays a pivotal role in its current preservation. At the same time, Mack stresses Europa-Park’s dedication to “constantly offering something new” to its guests. A potential new attraction aims to fulfill this promise down the line, though details about its design or any updates to the Russian-themed area remain undisclosed. The idea of eventually replacing Euro-Mir reflects a careful balance between tradition and progress.
