On November 29, 2023, an extraordinary event took place at Europa-Park. In collaboration with the Freiburger Münsterbauverein e.V., the park hosted its twelfth charity gala at the glamorous “Europa-Park Teatro”. This evening, marked by exceptional entertainment and social commitment, aimed to raise significant funds for the restoration of Freiburg Cathedral.
The Show: A Kaleidoscope of Entertainment Arts
This year's dinner show “Welcome to Hotel Romantica” provided an unforgettable experience for the 276 guests present. A world-class ensemble of 40 internationally recognized artists delivered a performance of extraordinary caliber, immersing the audience in a world of elegance, acrobatics, and artistic finesse.
Culinary Delights of the Highest Standard
The culinary highlight of the evening was the exclusive 4-course menu created by 2-star chef Peter Hagen-Wiest from “Ammolite – The Lighthouse Restaurant”. This gastronomic journey complemented the show and provided a comprehensive sensory experience.
Impressive Donations for Freiburg Cathedral
The gala raised a donation sum of 34,000 euros. Over the years, Europa-Park has contributed 330,000 euros to the restoration of Freiburg Cathedral. These funds are crucial for the preservation and restoration of this historic structure.
Freiburg Cathedral: A Landmark in Need
Freiburg Cathedral, an icon of Gothic architecture, stands at the heart of Freiburg's old town and is a cultural monument of national significance. Nearly 3 million euros is required annually for its maintenance. As public funds are insufficient, the Freiburger Münsterbauverein e.V. plays a key role in financing the maintenance work.
New Challenges after the Tower Restoration
Following the successful restoration of the part of the cathedral known as the “most beautiful tower on earth” in 2018, further restoration projects such as that of the choir have come into focus. Support from such charity events is essential to ensure the ongoing care and preservation of this medieval masterpiece.
A Continuing Experience for Visitors
The dinner show “Welcome to Hotel Romantica” will continue until February 17, 2024. This offers more visitors the opportunity to experience this spectacular event while simultaneously contributing to the protection of a significant cultural heritage.
