Europa-Park and SBB celebrate the inaugural journey of the sustainable RailCoaster from Basel to the Europa-Park Experience Resort, marking a milestone in eco-friendly leisure travel.
First Ride of the RailCoaster
On May 18, 2024, the first journey of the RailCoaster from Basel to Europa-Park took place. The trip was accompanied by SBB CEO Vincent Ducrot, the Mack family, and a group of guests.
Departure and Reception
The journey began at 7:33 AM in Basel. Passengers on the maiden voyage were personally welcomed by Vincent Ducrot, with Ed Euromaus also aboard, enjoying the ride. After a travel time of 1 hour and 20 minutes, the RailCoaster arrived at Ringsheim station, where the Mack family received the guests, who then continued their trip to Europa-Park by shuttle buses.
Sustainability and Goals
The RailCoaster aims to promote sustainable leisure travel in Switzerland and Europe. Operating entirely on green electricity, it reinforces SBB's leading role in sustainable transport development, especially in the leisure sector. At the unveiling of the Ed Euromaus figure in the trinational S-Bahn heart, Vincent Ducrot emphasized the project's significance for eco-friendly travel.
Combined Offers
SBB offers combined tickets for the RailCoaster ride and entry to Europa-Park or the Rulantica water world. The combo tickets for Europa-Park are priced at CHF 89 for second class and CHF 99 for first class. For Rulantica, the tickets are even cheaper at CHF 84 and CHF 94, respectively. These offers are available on all weekends and selected holidays and can be purchased at sbb.ch/railcoaster as well as at all SBB sales points in Switzerland.
