This past Sunday, September 22, 2024, the 13th Autumn Festival was held at the Nature Center of the town of Rust supporting the association “einfach helfen e.V.” and the Rheinauen Nature Center. With the highest recorded attendance to date, the event offered a wide range of family-friendly activities while also raising donations for a good cause.

Record Attendance and Official Opening

This year’s Autumn Festival attracted more visitors than ever to the Rust Nature Center. The official opening was led by Mayor Dr. Kai-Achim Klare, the chairwoman of “einfach helfen e.V.”, Mauritia Mack, and the Nature Center’s ranger, Alexander Schindler. The festival kicked off with the traditional apple pressing, where children could participate and press their apple juice. Mayor Klare praised the long-standing successful collaboration between the Nature Center and the “einfach helfen e.V.” association, which is exemplified by joint projects like the “einfach laufen” event in the spring and the Autumn Festival in the fall.

A Wide Variety of Family Activities

Families and children were treated to a wide array of activities. Attendees could make seed balls, carve pumpkins, craft flower crowns to use as dreamcatchers, and roast popcorn over an open fire. A balloon contest with exciting prizes and face painting for children were also among the highlights of the day. Free, freshly pressed apple juice was available for all visitors, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Musical performances and culinary delights

The event was musically accompanied by the Rust Brass Band, conducted by Andreas Vetter. Their performance around the picturesque Allmendsee created a relaxed and festive mood. Additionally, the members of “einfach helfen e.V.” provided a wide variety of food. The many cakes and pastries donated by supporters were a standout feature and a key part of the festival’s culinary offerings.

Special Guests and Distinguished Visitors

This year’s Autumn Festival also welcomed several prominent guests. Europa-Park owner Jürgen Mack and Marion Gentges, Member of the State Parliament and Minister of Justice and for Migration, were in attendance. Both were impressed by the high turnout and the dedication of the event’s volunteers.

Reopening of the Falconry at Allmendsee

Alongside the festival, the falconry at the Falkenhof near Allmendsee celebrated its reopening. The new operator, Tanja Beisert, introduced visitors to various birds of prey, including the snowy owl “Snowy,” the Harris’s hawk “Yara,” and the saker falcon “Khaleesi.” Visitors were provided the opportunity to tour the falconry and get a behind-the-scenes look at the care and training of these majestic birds.

Importance of the Festival for “einfach helfen e.V.”

Mauritia Mack emphasized the significance of the Autumn Festival for the work of “einfach helfen e.V.”: “The Autumn Festival is an important financial pillar for our social and charitable work. The fact that so many visitors joined us this year is particularly meaningful. All of this is only possible thanks to the support of our many volunteers. With the proceeds, we will be able to provide quick and unbureaucratic help to many people in the region.” All proceeds from the festival are directed toward supporting the association’s projects, which have been helping people in need since 2008.

Europa-Park’s Commitment to Social Projects

For many years, Europa-Park has been actively involved in supporting disadvantaged people. Through the “Frohe Herzen” initiative, the park offers underprivileged groups the opportunity to enjoy a carefree day at the largest theme park in Germany. These initiatives highlight Europa-Park’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility in the region, which aligns closely with the mission of “einfach helfen e.V.”
