The 18th “Muschel in Europa” pilgrimage event will take place on June 22-23, 2024. The Badische St. Jakobusgesellschaft, in cooperation with the “Kirche im Europa-Park,” invites pilgrims to a weekend of exchange and encounters.
Pilgrimage and Actionbound: An Experience for All Ages
On June 22-23, 2024, the Badische St. Jakobusgesellschaft, together with the “Kirche im Europa-Park,” organizes the pilgrimage “Muschel in Europa.” Under the motto “Paths Connect,” the pilgrimage follows the southern part of the Badische Jakobsweg from Ettenheim to Rust. The event starts with the traditional pilgrimage dispatch by Monsignor Bernhard Appel at St. Bartholomäus Church in Ettenheim at 2:00 PM.
Interactive Experiences on the Jakobsweg
A special highlight of this year's event is the “Actionbound,” a digital scavenger hunt aimed at families, teenagers, and youth groups. The “Actionbound” can be played parallel to the pilgrimage or independently between June 14 and 30. Prizes include tickets to Europa-Park and the Rulantica Water World.
Pilgrimage and Community Experiences
After the dispatch by Monsignor Appel, pilgrims embark on the journey to St. Peter's Chains Church in Rust. Along the way, a rest break provides participants with a chance to refresh. Upon arrival in Rust, an ecumenical service will be held.
Spiritual Conclusion and Cultural Program
On Sunday, June 23, Europa-Park owner Jürgen Mack and the president of the Badische St. Jakobusgesellschaft, Norbert Scheiwe, will welcome pilgrims at the 4-star Superior Hotel “Santa Isabel.” Following a spiritual impulse by the deacons of the “Kirche im Europa-Park” in the Convento Hall, Ettenheim's Mayor Bruno Metz will deliver a lecture. The event will be accompanied by music from the Mexican band “MariaChillis.” The event concludes with a communal lunch.
Participation and Registration
Participation in the event is free of charge. However, prior registration is recommended and can be done via email at info@badische-jakobusgesellschaft.de.
