On April 2, 2025, the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro made its first fully electric trip to the Europa-Park in Rust. The overland bus completed a customer test run on the 380-kilometer „rustexpress“ route from Switzerland to Germany’s largest theme park. This event marked a sustainable start to the park’s 50th anniversary, blending eco-friendly mobility with visionary leisure design.
Sustainability Highlights the 50th Anniversary
In its milestone year of 2025, the Europa-Park stands out as a pioneer in innovation and environmental consciousness. The Mack family, who owns the park, drives forward-thinking projects, from immersive attractions to modern mobility solutions. Roland Mack, the Europa-Park owner, stated: “Our guests should not only enjoy an exceptional experience but also see the journey as part of it—comfortable, modern, and sustainable.” The eIntouro perfectly aligns with this eco-conscious approach.
Real-World Test Run Success
Developed by Daimler Buses, the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro proved its capabilities during the test run alongside EUROBUS, a partner for 45 years. The „rustexpress“ shuttles Swiss visitors daily to the Europa-Park Erlebnis-Resort. With impressive range, whisper-quiet operation, and noticeable comfort, the bus excelled on the demanding route. These qualities make it an ideal choice for regular long-distance shuttle services, as demonstrated during the trial.
A Vision for the Future
Starting in 2026, the eIntouro will operate regularly on the rustexpress line. Ann-Kathrin Mack, managing partner of Europa-Park, emphasized: “As an Erlebnis-Resort, we think holistically—that’s why we advocate for modern, eco-friendly travel. The eIntouro impressively combines comfort, innovation, and responsibility.” This move reflects a strong commitment by EUROBUS, Daimler Buses, and the Europa-Park to smart, emission-free tourism mobility. Their collaboration exemplifies a dedication to continuously advancing leisure experiences.
