Historama at Europa-Park is set for a comprehensive renovation. Rumors suggest that a special attraction, the Gameplay Theater, might open upon completion of the refurbishments.
Renovation plans for Historama
Europa-Park’s continuous development leads to the next major construction phase: the renovation of Historama. As recent work on other theme areas has just concluded, planning for Historama begins. Roland Mack, the park’s managing director, emphasizes that the completion of one site immediately starts the next. For the park’s 50th anniversary, the renovation of the Luxembourg theme area is targeted, with the existing revolving theater making room for potential new attractions.
Speculations about the Gameplay Theater
Exciting details are already circulating about the possible new Gameplay Theater. Maximilian Röser, responsible for marketing at Mack Rides, previously shared insights in a trade magazine about an innovative ride concept that might also play a role in Historama. The attraction would feature rotating gondolas that take visitors through ten different rooms. “Our endless dark-ride gondolas are configured back-to-back,” Röser explained. This setup allows large back walls to segment spaces both internally and externally. Inside, physical scenes would captivate guests, while external projections and screens would provide additional visual experiences.
Innovation as a Visitor Magnet
Should the Gameplay Theater become a reality, it would continue Europa-Park’s tradition of developing innovative and unique rides. It remains to be seen how far these plans will go and how they might enrich the experience at Historama and the park overall.
