On Sunday, September 22, 2024, Europa-Park honored over 300 volunteers from the German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) for their involvement in this year’s 72-Hour Campaign. In collaboration with the BDKJ diocesan associations and the Mack family, the young helpers were invited for a special day of appreciation at the park. The day concluded with an exclusive event in the Globe Theater, located in the park's English-themed area.

Celebrating the Volunteers of the 72-Hour Campaign at Europa-Park

On Sunday, September 22, Europa-Park welcomed more than 300 young people who participated in the 72-Hour Campaign organized by the German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) back in April. This major social action project, held from April 18 to 21, 2024, is the largest youth social campaign in Germany, bringing together volunteer groups to complete community-based social projects in just three days. From renovations to social initiatives and environmental projects, the volunteers made a significant positive impact on their local communities.

The invitation to Europa-Park was extended by the Mack family, the park's owners, and the BDKJ diocesan associations of Freiburg, Mainz, Rottenburg-Stuttgart, and Speyer. This day of appreciation allowed the volunteers to celebrate their achievements while enjoying a memorable day at one of Germany’s largest theme parks.

Exclusive Event in the Globe Theater

A highlight of the day was the closing event at the Globe Theater in Europa-Park’s English-themed area. In this unique setting, Mauritia Mack, wife of park owner Jürgen Mack, personally thanked the volunteers for their outstanding efforts. In her speech, she praised the participants of the 72-Hour Campaign and emphasized how closely the campaign’s values—solidarity, responsibility, and social commitment—align with those of the Mack family and Europa-Park.

“In just 72 hours, you’ve demonstrated how dedication and hard work can lead to tremendous positive change. Your efforts have left a lasting impact on many regions across Germany. I am both proud and grateful for your remarkable engagement,” Mauritia Mack said in her address.

Community and Social Commitment

Raphael Würth, BDKJ diocesan leader in the Archdiocese of Freiburg, also took the opportunity to commend the volunteers and express his gratitude to Europa-Park for hosting the event. He highlighted the importance of collective action during the 72-Hour Campaign, stating: “This campaign thrives on people coming together in their communities to make a difference. Achieving such successes requires the support of everyone involved—whether it’s the children and young people, their families, local businesses, or communities. Europa-Park’s hosting of this appreciation day has made a vital contribution to recognizing these efforts.”

The 72-Hour Campaign: Germany’s Largest Youth Social Campaign

Held every four years, the 72-Hour Campaign is the largest youth social action initiative in Germany. During this year’s event, which took place from April 18 to 21, young people across the country came together in their communities to work on social and charitable projects. The initiative was supported by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth, as well as the German Bishops' Conference, promoting youth engagement and social responsibility across the country.
