Europa-Park and the Federal Association for Pediatric Hospice e. V. (BVKH) harness World Hospice Day to spotlight the concerns of seriously ill children and their families. Mauritia Mack, alongside numerous supporters, illustrates the importance of breaking societal taboos and advocating for these affected families.

Solidarity at the Heart of Entertainment

On October 15, 2023, joy and commitment converged at Europa-Park, Germany's largest amusement park. Mauritia Mack, wife of the park's owner Jürgen Mack, welcomed the BVKH and affected families to commemorate World Hospice Day in the picturesque town of Rust. Beyond the daily delight the park offers its visitors, a profound and pressing message was underscored: Raising awareness about the work and the necessity of pediatric hospices in Germany.

From Ambassador to Host

Mauritia Mack is more than just an ambassador for BVKH - she's a driving force. Her dedication to the association dates back to 2015. Since then, she has initiated a multitude of campaigns to bolster pediatric hospice work. Europa-Park doesn't just open its doors to these families; it opens its heart. Mauritia Mack emphasizes: "Every year, it's deeply moving to see how these families find moments of lightness within the park."

A Run with a Purpose

During the festive program in the Berlin Ballroom of the park, a special initiative was announced: The Children's Life Run. This event, set to take place next year under the patronage of Elke Büdenbender, has a clear objective. It aims to highlight the significance of pediatric hospice work and call for greater societal understanding and solidarity.

The BVKH Mission

Through targeted political efforts, BVKH seeks better conditions for pediatric hospice care. Franziska Kopitzsch, the association's managing director, stresses: "Affected families are in search of moments of happiness and encounters. It's our duty to facilitate these moments for them while simultaneously diminishing the societal stigma they bear."

Conclusion: A Day of Connection

At Europa-Park, a powerful message was conveyed on this special day. It demonstrated the significance of collaboration between corporations, non-profit organizations, and dedicated individuals. The message was clear: At the heart of it all are the children and their families, deserving moments of happiness and joy despite their challenging life circumstances.
