AUREA Award 2025: Technological Milestones at Europa-Park

From January 22 to 24, 2025, Europa-Park became the stage for groundbreaking innovations and visionary ideas. The highlight of the event was the AUREA Award, Europe’s leading accolade for immersive technologies. Hosted by Michael Mack, managing partner of Europa-Park and founder of MACK One, the event brought together leading industry experts, entrepreneurs, and creatives from around the globe.

With a focus on Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Extended Reality (XR), the AUREA Award celebrated projects pushing the boundaries of technology. Among the standout innovations was "Aquascope" by Moment Factory, which transformed water park interiors into magical immersive worlds using cutting-edge lighting, video mapping, and spatial sound.

"Kōkua AI" by TRIPP earned the AUREA Award for Innovation with its AI-powered wellness coach that enhances mental well-being through personalized technology.

"Skatrix Pro" by Reality Crisis redefined the skateboarding experience by combining physical activity with digital elements, creating a new level of Mixed Reality immersion.

The "Virtual Worlds Museum" by Arrival.Space offered an interactive journey through the history of digital worlds, accessible via a web-based platform. This project underscored the importance of preserving and showcasing the evolution of virtual environments.

"Nocturnal Fugue" by Botao Amber Hu delivered a unique sensory experience by allowing users to perceive the world through the perspective of a bat. Its innovative echolocation mask brought a completely new dimension to immersive technology.

Visionary Perspectives and Creative Impulses

Beyond the awards ceremony, the event provided a platform for groundbreaking discussions. Patrik Schumacher, director of the renowned architectural firm Zaha Hadid Architects, delivered a compelling keynote highlighting innovative approaches to integrating architecture and technology.

Nona Hendryx, musician and pioneer at the intersection of art and technology, enriched the event with her expertise and forward-thinking insights. Meanwhile, Michael Mack and Alvin Wang Graylin, President for Mixed Reality at HTC, delved into the potential of immersive technologies during an exclusive podcast recording, emphasizing the importance of cross-industry collaboration.

German artist Moritz Simon Geist impressed attendees with his unique fusion of art, music, and technology. His technological music installations showcased how innovation can unlock new creative possibilities.
