EPCOT's renowned attraction, “Test Track,” is undergoing a comprehensive modernization. After 25 years, the ride is being redesigned as “Test Track 3.0,” inspired by the history of transportation and elements from the original World of Motion.
Reimagining the Test Track
The “Test Track” attraction, known for its innovative presentation of automotive testing processes, is being fundamentally redesigned. The project, known as “Test Track 3.0,” aims to update the attraction both technologically and aesthetically to offer a contemporary experience for visitors. The redesign incorporates elements from the original World of Motion attraction into the new concept.
Design and Aesthetic Innovations
The previous version, “Test Track 2.0” introduced in 2012, featured a futuristic design with neon accents that transported visitors into the world of modern mobility. This design is now being revised in favor of an aesthetic more closely aligned with the original World of Motion. A concept image already released shows the redesigned entrance sign, stylistically reminiscent of the earlier attraction.
Retaining Iconic Elements
Despite extensive aesthetic revisions, "Test Track 3.0" will keep the popular high-speed outdoor track, providing guests with the experience of high speeds in the open air. This feature of the ride remains a central component and is expected to continue thrilling visitors in the new version.
Schedule and Closure
The current version of “Test Track” will close on June 17, 2024, to allow for the extensive modernization work. The work is expected to take at least a year, with a planned reopening in the summer of 2025. Details on the progress of the work and specific innovations will likely be shared at the D23 Expo in August.
