Starting today, visitors to Efteling can book the first 17 renovated Dorps- and Boshuysen in Efteling Bosrijk. The theme park launches a comprehensive renovation project that will refresh all vacation homes in the coming years.
First Renovated Vacation Homes Available
As of today, the initial 17 newly designed Dorps- and Boshuysen are open for booking. Madeleine Slijp-Dekkers, Product Manager Hotel & Resorts, says: “Efteling Bosrijk opened over fifteen years ago. Nestled in an enchanted forest, this unique spot invites guests to spend quality time together—whether strolling along winding woodland paths or relaxing in cozy cottages.” By the end of the year, the number of renovated homes will double. The project aims to gradually update all vacation homes in the coming years, enhancing the guest experience.
Fresh Design with Efteling Charm
The renovation introduces brighter interiors, modern kitchens, and new furniture to the vacation homes. “The updated furnishings are meant to enhance the warm atmosphere of this special place,” Madeleine explains. Window shutters and pictures of Klaas Vaak on the walls maintain the signature Efteling charm that guests love. The homes’ colors reflect their surroundings: red for the Dorpshuysen with their distinctive red bricks, and green for the Boshuysen set amid the forest. This ties the theming more closely to each location.
Development Driven by Guest Feedback
Guest input forms the foundation of the redesign. “After every stay, we ask how our visitors experienced their time at Efteling,” Madeleine shares. “Based on their feedback, insights, and wishes, we created a ‘Proefhuys’—a test home with a brighter layout, a different kitchen, and new furniture.” Over an extended period, the team tested how the furniture held up, whether the couch offered good comfort, and if the home was easy and efficient to clean. An in-depth survey about the overall stay, as well as the test home’s furnishings and comfort, guided final decisions and adjustments.
Revamp of Reception and Restaurant
In early 2024, the Eethuys restaurant and its adjacent reception at Efteling Bosrijk received a makeover. Bright colors, a new floor, a wall mural, and modern tables, chairs, benches, and cozy seating areas now create a welcoming environment for guests.
