Efteling amusement park, a gem in the Netherlands, is currently experiencing a thrilling change in leadership. Gerd Leers, former Member of Parliament and previous chairman of the Stichting Natuurpark de Efteling, has bid farewell and hands over the reins to Hans Janssen, the incumbent mayor of Oisterwijk.
Since 2018, Leers has led Efteling with dedication and passion, but this year he decided to embark on new challenges. Janssen, who already played an active role in the board, now steps up as chairman. Interestingly, this position, according to the municipality of Oisterwijk, demands only about forty hours a year.
It's notable that this transition took place earlier in the spring, yet remained largely under the media radar. Like Leers, Janssen also has deep roots in the leisure and entertainment industry. He heads the Fair Heritage Foundation and also sits on the board of a specialized community for inland ship owners and market and circus operators.
The foundation of the Efteling Foundation dates back to 1937, with the primary aim of promoting sports and recreation in Loon op Zand. The current board also includes familiar faces like Anita Schavemaker, Femke Weijtens, and Pierre Rieu, the proud son of the musical genius André Rieu.
This fresh breeze at the top promises an exciting future. Who knows what magic awaits us in the coming times?
