Efteling has recently revealed details about the design of its new gastronomy, “'t Koetshuys.” This new attraction, located in the enigmatic ghostly area of Huyverwoud, is set to open its doors in the fall of 2024, alongside the inauguration of the Danse Macabre attraction.
A Culinary Gem Opposite the Medieval Abbey
Strategically situated diagonally across from an impressive medieval abbey, “'t Koetshuys” promises not only an exciting culinary experience for visitors but also breathtaking views of the park's historic architecture.
Delights with a Spooky Twist
Visitors to Efteling can look forward to a selection of classic park snacks, including cotton candy and popcorn. A special highlight is the uniquely designed cotton candy adorned with spider images, perfectly complementing the ghostly theme of Huyverwoud.
Masterful Design by Jeroen Verheij
Jeroen Verheij, Efteling's chief designer, crafted the remarkable design of “'t Koetshuys.” The partially collapsed roof gives the building a mysterious and historical character, while a front view in moonlight adds to this mystical atmosphere.
Modern Comforts in a Medieval Setting
“'t Koetshuys” skillfully combines historical charm with modern technology. A double counter and two innovative Coca-Cola machines named “D'n Dorstlesser” ensure quick and efficient service. Two monitors allow visitors to conveniently pick up their orders by number.
Thematic Decoration and Story
Rich in thematic elements that tell a story, the building's facade is adorned with wheels, reminiscent of a time when carriages were housed here. Horseshoes on the wall add to the authenticity. The building's backstory, where the Charlatan family settled to trade, similar to the nearby grocer's shop “In den Swarte Kat,” adds fascinating narrative depth.
Opening in Fall 2024
The opening of “'t Koetshuys” is planned for fall 2024, coinciding with the premiere of the Danse Macabre attraction. With characters like Virginie and Otto Charlatan integrated into the design, “'t Koetshuys” becomes an indispensable part of the Efteling experience.
