One of the most recognized residents of Efteling, Langnek, has resumed his majestic position overlooking the Fairy Tale Forest after an extended maintenance period. Park visitors had to miss this iconic character for several weeks, as his distinctively long neck was completely removed.
But now, Langnek is back and looks more vibrant than ever. A fresh coat of paint has given his skin a tan, suggesting an effort to counteract the natural fading of colors over the years.
Efteling Park officials mentioned that this was a routine "ten-year maintenance." Not only was Langnek's appearance enhanced during this period, but also his movements and the surrounding pond received special attention. For safety during the maintenance, scaffolding was erected around the character, and his impressive neck was temporarily detached.
Since Langnek's debut in 1952 as a central element of the fairy tale "De Zes Servants," he has captured the hearts of many Efteling visitors. Over the years, his neck underwent several extensions, allowing him to tower even more prominently above the treetops. According to legend, this extendable neck allows him to observe every corner of the world. His remarkable comeback once again confirms the perfect blend of tradition and contemporary care at the park.
