Visitors to the popular Efteling amusement park are facing an unexpected change: the renowned Python roller coaster will remain closed for nearly three weeks, a significant extension compared to the originally announced five-day closure.
Unexpected Extension of Closure Time
Instead of the planned closure from February 5 to 9, the Python will now stay closed until February 24. This unexpected extension is due to the more extensive maintenance work required to ensure the ride's safety and functionality.
Backgrounds of the Sudden Plan Change
Last month, the roller coaster had to be closed unexpectedly to conduct urgent repairs on the trains. Although a closure until January 26 was initially planned, complaints and negative media coverage led to an earlier reopening on January 13, albeit with limited operating hours.
Questions About Consistency in Decisions
This renewed and extended closure raises questions: Why was it possible to partially operate the Python in January, while it must remain completely closed in February? The extension of the closure coincides with the end of Winter Efteling, causing visitors to miss additional attractions.
Further Restrictions in the Park
Besides the Python, several attractions, such as Piraña, De Vliegende Hollander, Joris en de Draak, and Raveleijn are closed. The Kleuterhof and the steam train are also affected. In the Fairy Tale Forest, the Sleeping Beauty character is missing, and the opening of the new attraction, Danse Macabre, is delayed. Additionally, the park's entrance area is in a state of construction due to parking lot work and the construction of a new hotel.
