The Efteling amusement park will discontinue its well-known horse show, Raveleijn, and replace it with a new attraction. Plans are already underway for an experience that will not involve animals.

New Concept for Raveleijn

Efteling in Kaatsheuvel is planning to replace the existing Raveleijn horse show with a new attraction. Visitors will soon be able to immerse themselves in an interactive story without the involvement of animals. This news has not yet been officially confirmed by Efteling.

Planned Attraction and Collaboration

Instead of a traditional theater show, a covered walkthrough attraction with actors is being considered. Visitors will be integrated into the story of Raveleijn. Efteling continues to collaborate with the French theme park Puy du Fou, known for its spectacular shows.

Arena Transformation

The current arena will be transformed into a village square featuring dining, a shop, and entertainment facilities. A grandstand will no longer be needed and will be removed. Efteling is following a development strategy similar to previous projects like Max & Moritz or the World of Sindbad.

Final Season of the Horse Show

The current Raveleijn show is likely in its final season, expected to run until the 2024 Christmas holidays. Renovations will begin in early 2025. The new attraction is slated to open for the 2026 season.

History and Criticism of Raveleijn

Raveleijn, which has been part of the park since 2011, was initially met with moderate success. Since partnering with Puy du Fou in 2013, the show has gained popularity. However, recently, there has been increasing criticism regarding the use of animals. The contract with Puy du Fou extends until early 2026.

Puy du Fou's Expertise

Puy du Fou has extensive experience with walkthrough experiences, demonstrated by various attractions in their French and Spanish parks. These attractions, where visitors walk through different scenes and are immersed in a story through actors and special effects, have been well received at Efteling.
