Starting in summer 2026, Efteling theme park will expand its offerings with a new family-friendly free-fall attraction located next to the popular Dive-Coaster Baron 1898. Themed to match Baron 1898, this new ride targets guests seeking a milder thrill or those who do not meet the 1.32-meter height requirement for the Dive-Coaster.
New Family Attraction for Wider Appeal
Efteling will introduce a new free-fall attraction in the Ruigrijk area, adjacent to Baron 1898, with construction starting after summer 2025. Designed to accommodate 600 guests per hour, the ride enhances the park’s offerings for families and younger visitors. Koen Sanders, Director of Product, Market, and Image, emphasizes that the attraction’s compact design increases capacity and appeals to a broader audience. The atmosphere and theme align with Baron 1898, immersing guests in the story of the Baron and the Witte Wieven.
Adventure as the Baron’s Chimney Sweep
Crafted by designer Karel Willemen, the new attraction casts visitors as chimney sweeps for the Baron, tying into the mystical narrative of Baron 1898 featuring Gustave Hooghmoed and the Witte Wieven. The free-fall experience, less intense than the Dive-Coaster’s 37.5-meter drop, delivers excitement suitable for families. Set to open in summer 2026, the ride will also enhance the view from the nearby Casa Caracol dining area. For guests who find Baron 1898 too thrilling or lack the required height, this attraction offers an engaging alternative.
Baron 1898: A Thrill Ride for a Decade
Since its debut ten years ago, the Dive-Coaster Baron 1898 has captivated visitors in Ruigrijk. Guests take on the role of miners in Gustave Hooghmoed’s gold mine, where the Witte Wieven attempt to thwart their success. The ride, requiring a minimum height of 1.32 meters, features a dramatic 37.5-meter free fall. For those hesitant to experience this intense thrill, the new family attraction provides a more accessible way to enjoy the same captivating storyline.
