In the enchanting atmosphere of Efteling, one of Europe's most renowned theme parks, a New Year's Eve celebration took place, uniquely commemorating not only the arrival of a new year but also 71 years of the park's history. Combining fireworks, a light show, and a journey through time, Efteling offered its guests an unforgettable night filled with magic and memories.
A Special Journey Through Time
The celebration began with a fascinating time travel experience, taking visitors through Efteling's eventful history. Large screens around the picturesque ornamental pond highlighted a different legendary Efteling clock every hour. These clocks, symbols of time and change, served as windows to the past, presented through video clips showcasing the most beautiful moments of 2023.
A Sea of Glowing Water Lilies
A highlight of the evening was the opportunity for guests to place their glowing water lilies on the pond. This act of participation added a personal and interactive touch to the event. Simultaneously, the boats of the Gondoletta attraction were filled with beloved Efteling characters, who also released water lilies into the water, creating an enchanting scene.
Pardoes: More Than Just a Mascot
Just before the turn of the year, Pardoes, the park's iconic mascot, took the stage. In a specially recorded message, filmed in the newly designed scenes in Symbolica, Pardoes spoke about the importance of memories and imagination. This sequence, experiencing Pardoes in a new dimension, added a deeper, thoughtful layer to the evening.
A Tribute to the Past
In an emotional video, spectators were taken on a reverse journey through Efteling's history. From the newest attractions to the park's lost treasures – each era was celebrated. Special attention was given to four legendary but no longer existing attractions: Pegasus, Polka Marina, the Bob, and the Haunted House.

As a grand finale, a spectacular firework display unfolded around the pond. Despite weather-related cancellations of many fireworks shows in the country, including in Tilburg, Efteling lit up the sky with an impressive display of fireworks, light effects, and lasers. This was accompanied by a specially composed Efteling medley, narrating the park's musical history.
A Night Full of Music and Dance
After the fireworks, the area around the pond was transformed into an open-air nightclub, thanks to DJ Dizzy. The Anton Pieck Square hosted a silent disco, where guests could choose between three different music channels. The entertainment program was enriched by performances from various characters and music groups, bringing the magic of Efteling to life in every corner of the park.
