On April 27th, Djurs Sommerland will open its gates, showcasing its latest attraction, “El Grito,” a 60-meter-tall drop tower. This spectacular new feature promises pure adrenaline and attracts courageous visitors from near and far.
Investment in New Attractions
Over the past few years, Djurs Sommerland has consistently invested in providing new and exciting attractions for its visitors. The 2024 season is no exception. Well over 30 million kroner has been invested in constructing “El Grito,” a Mexican-themed drop tower designed especially for thrill-seekers.
Description of “El Grito”
Standing at an impressive height of 60 meters, “El Grito” towers over the park, offering not only the thrill of free-fall but also a unique view across Djursland. Visitors are first lifted to the top before plummeting down at speeds of up to 100 km/h. Henrik B. Nielsen, the park’s CEO, highlights the uniqueness and courage required to board the gondola.
Theming and Experience
The design of “El Grito” is inspired by Mexican culture, specifically the “Dia de los Muertos.” Colorful banners and the sounds of Mexican music enhance the cultural experience as guests prepare for the thrill of the drop.
Long-Term Vision and Expansions
“El Grito” is part of a larger master plan for the development of Mexicoland, one of the themed areas within the park. Alongside “Juvelen,” Denmark's longest roller coaster, the drop tower becomes one of the key attractions for family adventures. Henrik B. Nielsen indicates that more spectacular new features are planned, which are to be unveiled in the future.
Optimistic Outlook for the Season
Despite last year's rainy season, Djurs Sommerland is optimistic about the 2024 season. Booking numbers for corporate and group excursions and for the confirmants on Blå Mandag are breaking records. The park anticipates one of the most successful seasons in its history, thanks also to the recent major expansion of Dinosaurland and the new drop tower.
