Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort is set to receive a new themed land based on the beloved Disney and Pixar film “Monsters, Inc.” A major highlight will be Disney's first-ever suspended roller coaster, which will take fans on a thrilling ride through the iconic door vault featured in the movie.

Announcement at D23: A New Monster World is Coming

During the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23, the ultimate Disney fan event, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, revealed exciting news. Joined by Disney Legend Billy Crystal, D’Amaro announced plans for a new themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This land, entirely dedicated to the beloved characters from “Monsters, Inc.,” will offer fans the opportunity to explore the streets of Monstropolis and join in the adventures of their favorite monsters.

The World of “Monsters, Inc.”: Powered by Laughter

The new land will be set after the events of the “Monsters, Inc.” film, where humans are now invited to visit the monster world. In a city that relies on laughter to keep operations running smoothly, visitors will be fully immersed in the story and experience the vibrant atmosphere of Monstropolis firsthand. A key attraction will take them on a thrilling tour through the famous Monsters, Inc. factory.

Disney’s First Suspended Roller Coaster

The centerpiece of this new land will be an innovative-suspended roller coaster inspired by the film’s door vault. This ride allows guests to race through the vault, just like Mike and Sulley did in the movie. Josh D’Amaro expressed his excitement about this concept, recalling how, after first watching the film, he dreamed of riding on one of those doors himself. The coaster will bring this cinematic experience to life, offering visitors a unique and exhilarating journey into the world of Monstropolis.

Construction Begins Next Year: Preparations Are Underway

Construction on the new “Monsters, Inc.” land is set to begin next year. Fans can look forward to experiencing the world of Monstropolis for themselves and riding Disney’s first suspended roller coaster in the near future. Until then, anticipation will be kept alive with regular updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the construction process.

Humor and Interactivity: Roz is Watching

In addition to the high-energy attractions, the new land will also feature humorous elements. The popular character Roz, known from the film, will be keeping a watchful eye on visitors, adding a touch of humor to the experience. These interactive and thematic details will make the new “Monsters, Inc.” land a must-visit for every Disney fan.
