Disney's Animal Kingdom: Demolition of DinoLand U.S.A. Announced for New Attractions

Disney's Animal Kingdom is about to undergo significant changes. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, announced ambitious plans for the park during the D23 Fan Expo 2024 in Southern California. The iconic DinoLand U.S.A. will be closed to make way for Pueblo Esperanza, a new themed area centered around the “Tropical Americas.” Fans now have one last chance to bid farewell to DinoLand U.S.A. before construction begins.

Tropical Americas and New Attractions

The new area, Pueblo Esperanza, will feature rides themed around Indiana Jones and Encanto and is slated to open in winter 2025. This new section will be located between the popular Asia and Discovery Island areas, offering an exciting addition to the park’s existing attractions.

A New 3D Movie: Zootopia at the Tree of Life

In addition to the demolition of DinoLand U.S.A., the Tree of Life will also be a focal point of change. The attraction It’s Tough To Be A Bug, which has been running since 1998, will be replaced by a new 3D show. The film, titled Zootopia Better Zoogether, is set to premiere in 2025 and will showcase biomes and new animated areas from the world of Zootopia. Fans of characters like Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde can look forward to seeing their favorites once again.

Construction at the Tree of Life to Begin Soon

On September 5, 2024, Disney filed a construction permit for work at the Tree of Life. This permit includes provisions for labor and materials needed for the new attraction. The current attraction is expected to close by the end of 2024, allowing construction to begin shortly thereafter.

As DinoLand U.S.A. closes and the Tree of Life undergoes redevelopment, Disney fans face emotional farewells. However, the park’s redesign offers thrilling new attractions that are sure to capture the imagination of visitors.
