Disneyland Resort: 70th Anniversary Starts May 2025

On May 16, 2025, the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration will kick off and continue through summer 2026, celebrating seven decades of happiness. Located in California, the Disneyland Resort will welcome visitors with new entertainment, vibrant decorations, themed food and drinks, and exclusive merchandise—a delightful experience for all senses. Guests can look forward to “celebrating happily” with limited-time offerings throughout the resort.

New Shows and Parades for the 70th Anniversary

Spectacular entertainment will define the celebration at Disneyland Resort. The “World of Color Happiness!” show will debut in Disney California Adventure Park, exploring happiness with an impressive array of fountains, dynamic lighting, colorful lasers, fog, and flame effects—hosted by Joy and the emotions from Pixar’s “Inside Out” and “Inside Out 2.” Guests will be invited to sing and dance along to music and moments from films like “Turning Red,” “The Incredibles,” “A Goofy Movie,” “Tangled,” and “Encanto.” Highlights include a “Rainbow Connection” rendition by Boyz II Men and a new song, “Makes Me Wanna Move,” by FITZ. Before the show, over a dozen Muppets, led by Joe the Legal Weasel, will share a message with projections and fountains over Paradise Bay.

The “Paint the Night” parade will return to Disneyland Park, illuminating Main Street, U.S.A., with over one million LED lights. Mickey Mouse will harness Tinker Bell’s pixie dust to bring characters from “Monsters, Inc.,” “Cars,” “Toy Story,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Beauty and the Beast” to life, enhanced by innovative floats, vibrant costumes, and energetic performances. Anna and Elsa from “Frozen” will reappear on their float for the first time since its debut. “Wondrous Journeys” will transform Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, “it’s a small world,” and Rivers of America at night with cutting-edge projections showcasing Disney classics like “Hercules,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Peter Pan,” “Big Hero 6,” and “Moana,” with fireworks on select evenings. In California Adventure, “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” will celebrate friendship with over two dozen Pixar characters from “Luca,” “Turning Red,” and “Up” through colorful floats and music.

“Celebrate Happy” – The Anniversary Soundtrack

A new theme song, “Celebrate Happy,” composed and performed by the Jonas Brothers, will be available for streaming everywhere starting May 13, 2025. It will feature in various entertainment experiences and the “The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade,” which will bring characters like Goofy and Max in their 70th anniversary outfits, along with rare guests Duffy and ShellieMay—fluffy teddy bear characters from Duffy and Friends—down the parade route in Disneyland Park. Visitors can join the lively celebration by dancing and clapping along.

Anniversary Decorations Across the Resort

Disneyland Resort will shine with festive decor. A 50-foot sculpture inspired by Sleeping Beauty Castle, featuring colored glass panels and golden pendants representing the five original lands, will greet guests at the entrance between Disneyland and California Adventure. Floral Mickey displays and multicolored banners will adorn Main Street, U.S.A., while a Mickey and Minnie installation in Town Square honors the milestone. An elegant medallion will grace Sleeping Beauty Castle. The Carthay Circle Restaurant in California Adventure will glow at night with music, lights, and projections set to “Celebrate Happy,” bathing Buena Vista Street in sparkling light. “Tapestry of Happiness” will bring the “it’s a small world” facade to life nightly with light, music, and projections in Mary Blair’s style, weaving in Disneyland melodies from seven decades. The decorations will extend to Downtown Disney District and the resort’s hotels.

New Touches at Attractions

Starting April 25, 2025, “it’s a small world” in Disneyland will feature Miguel and Dante from “Coco,” silhouetted by a marigold bridge in the Mexican section. At “Toy Story Midway Mania!” in California Adventure, guests competing for high scores will spot anniversary-inspired nods.

Exclusive Outfits and Merchandise

Mickey, Minnie, and their friends will don custom 70th anniversary outfits in Town Square, featuring bright colors and sparkling embellishments—ideal for photos. The resort will offer new merchandise collections, including ears, apparel, accessories, plush toys, games, and home decor, to commemorate the celebration. More details will follow on the Disney Parks Blog.
