In a move to enhance infrastructure and increase visitor satisfaction, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim has unveiled an innovative plan. The DisneylandForward project centers on optimizing pedestrian access from the west side of the resort, a measure that also addresses and responds to local residents' concerns.

Future-Oriented Changes at the Disneyland Resort

With its land use proposal, DisneylandForward, Disneyland Resort pursues ambitious goals. The plan proposes compensating the City of Anaheim to take over certain street sections within the resort boundaries, especially Magic Way. This street, primarily frequented by Disney visitors and employees, is expected to offer improved access to the resort in the future.

Dialogue with the Community

Despite the apparent benefits for the resort and its visitors, some residents have expressed concerns. They fear that converting Magic Way into a private road could block important alternative routes to Ball Road. However, Disney has clarified, based on comprehensive traffic analyses, that only a minimal portion of traffic participants use Magic Way for this purpose.

Focus on Pedestrian Friendliness

In response to the need for safe pedestrian pathways, the resort plans to establish a protected crosswalk. This will be linked to a new bike path running along Walnut Street on Disney-owned land. This measure underscores Disney's commitment to pedestrian safety and well-being.

Further Road Development Plans

Another aspect of the DisneylandForward proposal involves Gene Autry Drive, whose planned but not yet realized extension runs through the Toy Story parking lot area. Disney emphasizes that there is no intention to acquire or remove adjacent residential complexes, which should alleviate some residents' concerns.

Review Phase by the City of Anaheim

The DisneylandForward proposal is currently in the review phase by the City of Anaheim. Approval would allow Disney to update land use rules and develop new attractions and hotels in previously designated parking areas. Disney has also committed to investing at least $1.9 billion in new attractions within the first ten years of the agreement.

A Step Towards the Future

With the DisneylandForward project, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim demonstrates its commitment to future-oriented development. The planned measures improve access and the visitor experience and consider the concerns of the local community. This endeavor promises to make the resort more attractive to guests while contributing positively to urban development.
