On April 29, 2024, cast members and local youth at Disneyland Paris experienced a day dedicated to environmental protection. This event, part of Earth Month, featured an array of conferences and workshops led by renowned experts.

Event Opening by Fabrice Bonnifet

The event was opened by Fabrice Bonnifet, chairman of the College of Sustainable Development Directors. Known for his contributions to sustainable business practices, Bonnifet discussed the reorientation of business models within the context of sustainability. He emphasized the essential role of integrating corporate social responsibility (CSR) into business management to protect the environment.

Insights into the World of Plants and Genetics

Magda Bou Dagher Kharrat, a National Geographic Explorer and plant geneticist, guided participants through the evolution of forests and their adaptations to climate change and human impacts. The expert, who works at the European Institute for Planted Forests and the University of Saint Joseph in Beirut, highlighted how research into tree rings and soil layers provides new insights into nature's resilience.

The Importance of Insect Diversity

Tony Robillard, an entomologist and also a National Geographic Explorer, spoke about the critical role of insects in our ecosystems. He shared his global research trips that led to the discovery of new species and how these findings aid in habitat conservation. His lecture reflected the efforts of Disneyland Paris to preserve local biodiversity, including wild bee species.

A Visual Journey with Yann Arthus-Bertrand

Renowned photographer and filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand shared his experiences and the challenges of climate change through his stunning images. As the founder of the GoodPlanet Foundation, he has committed to raising awareness of urgent environmental issues through his art.

International Cooperation Against Climate Change

The closing talk was given by François Gemenne, a political analyst and co-author of the sixth IPCC report. Gemenne discussed the necessity of global cooperation in the fight against global warming and highlighted the role of international partnerships in tackling this global challenge.
