Designed by the renowned fashion designer Karine Soares, these costumes embody a captivating blend of historical elegance and Disney magic, crafted with a deep respect for French textile craftsmanship.
Historical Elegance Meets Fairy Tale Charm
Soares, known for her distinct artistic vision, has created a costume line inspired by the Victorian era and the Middle Ages, complemented by references to the world of Disney princes and princesses. This mix of historical charm and timeless fairy tale flair is reflected in every aspect of the costumes, from the high collars of the vests to the intricately detailed swallowtails and balloon sleeves.Jacquard Fabrics from Maison Dutel: The Core of the Creations
A central element of the new costume line is the Jacquard fabrics, made by Maison Dutel, a company with deep roots near Lyon. Maison Dutel, which has been involved in Jacquard weaving for over 85 years, has previously provided exclusive fabrics for various Disneyland Paris projects, including the Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. Approximately 3,000 meters of these exquisite fabrics were used for the Disneyland Hotel, resulting in a total of 27,777 costume pieces.Jean-Christophe Dutel, the head of Maison Dutel, highlights the uniqueness of Jacquard weaving, where threads of different colors are crossed to create complex patterns. This process involves designing and implementing the patterns, which are then put into production to be used as fabric for the costumes. About 4,000 meters of fabric were needed for the Disneyland Hotel costumes.
