Disneyland Paris: Sylvain Marie Boosts Aid for the Needy

At Disneyland Paris, Sylvain Marie, CSR coordinator, ensures merchandise and food donations reach nonprofit organizations. Alongside dedicated Cast Members and Disney VoluntEARS, he spreads magic—from school supplies to Christmas gifts—supporting those in need across Europe. In 2024, the park donated over 3 million items to around twenty charities in France and beyond.

A Key Role in the CSR Team

Sylvain Marie manages donations at Disneyland Paris for organizations like Le Secours Populaire and The Red Cross. He handles requests for food, hotel equipment, and themed merchandise, ensuring these reach groups in need. His role spans a wide range of tasks, from assessing needs to delivering donated items. The park’s efforts extend across France and Europe, backed by partnerships with numerous charities.

Year-Round Support Through Donations

Disneyland Paris provides bedding, furniture, and IT equipment to groups such as Les Restos du Coeur and La Banque Alimentaire. In 2024, over 3 million items benefited about twenty organizations. In September, Cast Members collected school supplies for children, while they donated toys during the Christmas season. For International Women’s Day, they partnered with La Cravate Solidaire, offering clothing to aid professional integration. Sylvain finds daily inspiration in the joy these donations bring to recipients.

Disney VoluntEARS’ Dedicated Efforts

The Disney VoluntEARS enthusiastically pack and distribute gifts. In December 2024, they prepared over 7,000 presents for sick children across more than 60 hospitals in France and Belgium. Their work creates unforgettable moments for disadvantaged families, reflecting the generosity of Cast Members who also donate personal items. Sylvain highlights how impressed he is by the many Cast Members who volunteer their free time for these initiatives.

From Trainee to Coordinator

Sylvain started in 2007 as a trainee at the Yacht Club Restaurant in the Disney Newport Bay Club Hotel. He later trained as a housekeeping team leader at the Disney Sequoia Lodge. With diplomas in hospitality and food and beverage operations, he led housekeeping teams in three hotels for seven years. He then joined the Design & Delivery team, assisting with office space organization for Cast Members in support roles. Since 2022, he has applied his skills in the CSR team to coordinate donation efforts.

Pride in Helping Others

Sylvain takes pride in bringing joy, the heart of his work. He values the beaming smiles and gratitude from charities as they load donated items into their vehicles. Colleagues from other Disney Parks worldwide recognize his initiatives, which he finds remarkable. As a Disney VoluntEARS member, he experiences inspiring moments beyond his job. He finds it fulfilling to help those in need and touching to see nonprofits express their appreciation. While three words fall short, “bringing joy” captures the essence of his role.
