Disneyland Paris has been fined €1.3 million by the DGCCRF after its parent company, Euro Disney, failed to pay several invoices on time in 2020. The French competition authority identified violations of statutory payment deadlines.

Background of the Fine

The parent company of Disneyland Paris, Euro Disney, was fined over one million euros. The state organization DGCCRF, responsible for competition, consumer protection, and fraud prevention, discovered that Euro Disney delayed payments to suppliers a few years ago.

Statutory Payment Deadlines in France

The investigation by the DGCCRF focused on whether statutory payment deadlines were met. In France, invoices must be paid within sixty days unless another agreement has been made. Euro Disney did not comply with these regulations in 2020.

Consequences of the Violations

Due to the violations in 2020, Euro Disney now has to pay a fine of €1.3 million. The Disneyland Paris resort has not yet officially responded to the allegations.

Penalties for Late Payments

Companies in France that delay payments can face fines of up to €2 million. If violations are repeated within two years, the amount can be doubled.
