Since January 10, 2025, Disney Tales of Magic has captivated guests at Disneyland Paris. This new nighttime show transforms Sleeping Beauty Castle and, for the first time, the facades of Main Street, U.S.A. into a magical stage. Combining cutting-edge technology with Disney storytelling, it delivers an unforgettable experience.
Technology Meets Disney Enchantment
Disney Tales of Magic sets a new standard in entertainment innovation. The show features 15 vibrant lasers, 60 state-of-the-art spotlights, and over 200 architectural LED projectors. An immersive audio system, pyrotechnic effects, water fountains, strobes, and drones from technology partner Dronisos create a stunning atmosphere. These elements distinguish this production from previous shows, offering visitors a fresh and magical spectacle.
Standout Moments of the Show
One highlight is the Moana sequence, where comets shift colors from red to green, painting the sky with a mesmerizing pattern. The “Remember me” scene from Coco casts Sleeping Beauty Castle in a tender glow, touching hearts. Action peaks with the Buzz versus Zurg duel from Toy Story, as laser effects and lights illuminate Central Plaza in a lively, festive display. A team member notes this Toy Story moment shines with all effects syncing perfectly, making it especially entertaining. These scenes blend technology and narrative seamlessly.
A Fresh Take for Disneyland Paris
After more than a decade of nightly pyrotechnics, the team embraced a bold new approach. They introduced fresh colors, products, and pipe diameters to surprise guests with an innovative display. The biggest challenge was ensuring visitors felt they were witnessing an entirely new pyrotechnic experience. Running since January 2025, the show continues to draw crowds, rooted in the park’s architecture while celebrating classic Disney magic.
Collaboration with NorthHouse
Disneyland Paris partnered with London-based NorthHouse studio to bring the vision to life. Director Tim and the creative team crafted animations projected onto Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street, U.S.A. Drawing inspiration from artist Mary Blair, such as the bold shapes and colors in the Cinderella scene, the visuals reflect iconic Disney tales. A collaborator highlights the privilege of growing up with Disney films and contributing to this landmark project. The close partnership focused on shaping the audience’s emotions at every turn.
Behind-the-Scenes Excitement
Creating the show was a thrilling journey. During a rehearsal, pyrotechnics, fireworks, lasers, fountains, and lights merged for the first time. The team, both nervous and excited, eagerly anticipated how the technologies would align. Integrating lasers with animations posed a unique challenge. Working with NorthHouse and a passion for Disney stories shaped the storyboarding process that brought the show to life. One team member looked forward to seeing the full result of their efforts during that rehearsal.
