Disneyland Paris expands its entertainment lineup with the new show “Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland.” From May 25 to September 29, 2024, visitors will be transported into a modern version of the classic “Alice in Wonderland” story.

Premiere at the Theatre of Stars

Last weekend, the new show “Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” premiered at Walt Disney Studios Park. This innovative production offers a modern interpretation of the Disney classic “Alice in Wonderland” and is performed in the newly opened “Theatre of Stars,” sponsored by EDF.

Expanding the Entertainment Offering

Following successful shows like “TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure” and the impressive “Disney Electrical Sky Parade,” Disneyland Paris is expanding its lineup with another highlight. This strengthens the resort's position as a leading entertainment company in Europe. Unlike the animated film, which ends with a croquet game, the new show culminates in a lively tea party where the Queen of Hearts engages in a musical duel with Alice and her friends.

Interactive and Visual Spectacle

The audience can expect a spectacle featuring musical performances, aerial acrobatics, and BMX stunts. A unique aspect of the show is its interactive component, which allows the audience to influence the story's ending by deciding which character should be celebrated.

Creative Vision by Matteo Borghi

Show Director Matteo Borghi has created a colorful and interactive homage to the Disney classic “Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland.” The show integrates modern elements and lets the audience experience the duality of the main characters: Alice represents the power of imagination, while the Queen of Hearts symbolizes self-confidence. Borghi emphasizes that both protagonists convey important and complementary messages.

Impressive stage designs and decorations

Set designer Olivier Dusautoir combines the original world of the animated film with the “Pop-Art” movement and modern street art elements. The stage, featuring brightly colored containers, thirteen screens, and pyrotechnic devices, provides an impressive backdrop for the show. Additional trampolines at the foot of the stands add even more interaction and fun.

Musical Variety and Technical Sophistication

The show's soundtrack, inspired by the melodies of the original film and recorded in Nashville, reflects the characters' contrasting personalities. The musical accompaniment ranges from pop to rock and is performed by a talented ensemble of singers, musicians, and dancers. Guillaume Coignard, music producer at Disneyland Paris, emphasizes that the music fills every inch of the vast space, treating each instrument as a living character.

Custom-Made Costumes and Modern Props

The costumes for the show, designed by Isabelle Antoine and Malika Sif, reflect the unique aesthetics of the characters. The Queen of Hearts wears glamorous outfits, while Alice appears in a “pop star” look. The stage design also includes modern props like the spectacular vehicle of the Queen of Hearts, created in collaboration with Planète Vapeur.

Diverse performances and impressive choreographies

In addition to the unique musical atmosphere, the show features incredible athletic and artistic performances. Acrobats use the “Trampo-walls” for stunning tricks, while BMX riders perform stunts to the music, creating captivating visuals and choreographies.

Commitment to Social Responsibility

Throughout the summer, thousands of children from the Secours Populaire organization will be invited to experience the show. This initiative complements a day in the parks, where they can enjoy attractions, parades, and shows. For many young people who do not have regular access to cultural experiences, this initiative offers an inspiring and unforgettable escape from everyday life.

A Unique Experience for All Visitors

“Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” is performed several times daily in the resort's largest open-air theater, which seats 2,800 spectators. The setting and proximity to the stage allow for a high level of audience interaction, creating an immersive experience.
