Yesterday, a technical incident at Caribe Aquatic Park, part of PortAventura World, led to the mass evacuation of the entire water park. The park, located between Vila-seca and Salou in Tarragona Province, was severely impacted by a transformer fault, which caused a small fire. The park's management quickly decided to evacuate all visitors to ensure their safety.
Firefighting Efforts: Quick Response Prevents Major Damage
The incident occurred around 16:50 local time. Black smoke could be seen rising from the affected area, visible even from the park’s parking lot. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the safety protocols were implemented swiftly and effectively.
Within 25 minutes, the fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by four firefighting teams and the park’s security personnel. Despite the prompt response and successful fire suppression, the water park remained closed afterward to inspect potential damage and conduct necessary maintenance work.

Normally, Caribe Aquatic Park closes at 18:00. However, due to the evacuation, the park remained closed and, according to current information, will not reopen in the coming days. The management of PortAventura World has announced that affected guests will receive further information via email. Details regarding compensation measures have not yet been disclosed.
