Bobbejaanland has announced a major refresh of its famous “Revolution” roller coaster this winter. An investment of 1 million euros will be channeled into updating the theme and technology of the attraction, which has been a part of the park for 35 years.

Historic Roller Coaster Undergoes Modern Transformation

“Revolution” at Bobbejaanland, one of the longest-standing roller coasters, is set for a significant upgrade. The world's longest roller coaster train, comprising thirty cars with a total length of 56 meters, will receive a new chassis from the Dutch manufacturer Vekoma. This marks a major step in the coaster's modernization.

A New Look in the Spirit of Tradition

In a bid for contemporary renewal while honoring the past, Bobbejaanland is returning to its roots. The top of the cars will be sanded down and painted, reviving the original silver-gray and green-blue color tones from its opening year in 1989. This represents a tribute to the rich history of the roller coaster.

Technological Upgrade for an Unparalleled Experience

Alongside aesthetic modifications, “Revolution” will also see technological enhancements. Various light effects will be replaced with more modern and dynamic alternatives, intensifying the riding experience. Peggy Verelst, the commercial and creative director of the park, emphasizes that despite the updates, the nostalgic character of the roller coaster remains intact.

Loyalty to the Original Charm

Verelst further highlights that “Revolution” is the most cherished attraction in the park and even boasts a fan club. The renovations aim to preserve the coaster's popularity while ensuring its appeal to future generations through new technology.

A New Design Meets Venerable History

The updates are not limited to the roller coaster itself. The queue area will also be revamped in collaboration with renowned decorator Kabuki. This approach reflects the park's intention to preserve the rich history of the coaster while steering it into a new era.

Interactive Insights through Social Media

To allow visitors and fans to be part of the renewal process, Bobbejaanland is launching a five-part video series on social media. This series offers exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses of the upgrade and highlights the early years of the roller coaster, including interviews with former director Jack Schoepen and maintenance manager Tom Knuts.
